Why Am I Not Voting in 2012?

By Reginald Kaigler (DEMCAD)

A disappointed viewership was upset that I said that I wasn't going to vote this year. I was stating on blogtv that it was essentially pointless. The viewer sent me an e-mail questioning whether I was even registered to vote, how I could not vote if I'm a constitutionalists. However, I'm also a pragmatist and this is my response.

The U.S. government only follows the U.S. constitution when in suits them. Nevertheless, I am registered to vote. And Yes, I have voted before. I voted for McCain, the low life who co-signed the National Defense Authorization Act. The same act that allows the military to turn America into a battlefield and detain citizens without a charge, trial or any evidence. Of course, Obama signed this disgraceful piece of legislation. So, no, I will not be voting. I simply don't see a point.

Time and time again, leaders in both the Republican and Democratic parties have lied to the American people. They have continued to support unconstitutional legislation (e.g. Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, National Defense Authorization) aimed at stripping our civil liberties and basic rights. Both parties have continued to support criminals on Wall Street, banker bailouts and unnecessary wars (Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Pakistan bombing, Yemen bombing).

You say that "this is the most important election of our lifetime." Isn't every scam of an election supposedly the most important of our lifetime. And yet, they are always the same. Candidate make promises, one wins the race and when he gets into office, they break almost every promise. Remember when Obama said he was going to close Guantanamo Bay? he lied about that, lied about the one year withdrawal from Iraq, illegally bombed Yemen, Pakistan and Libya, escalated the Afghan War and protected Bush torturers. And he's not the only liar.

Bush claimed that U.S. shouldn't try to police the world and what did he do, he started two unnecessary wars and lied his ass off about weapons of mass destruction. He dramatically expanded the size of government and accelerated the national debt. Obama has just continued the foolishness.

You also say that if I'm a constitutionalists, I would vote. Well, to be honest, if Thomas Jefferson were alive and saw what this government were doing, I doubt he would be concerned about voting.

After all, isn't he the guy who said,

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."

Anyway, don't you see the scam. People are allowed to vote because it gives them the illusion that they have a say in things. They don't. Remember when Congress was considering the bailout and the overwhelm numbers of Americans called their Congressperson's office and pledged for them to not give their tax money to bankers? What did Congress do?

So sure, Obama is going to try to take away my rights in his second term, but there's plenty of reason to think the GOP nominee will do so as well. Romney and Newt have made anti-gun statements and Santorum is barely better. And as far as Ron Paul, the man is the only non-corporatist, non neo-con candidate and was out right cheated in Maine. The race was close and there simply stopped counting the votes. They had clear discrepancies in the voting from various districts.

Maybe Stalin was right (if he said this.)

"The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything."

The fact of the matter is that none of the candidates have made a commitment to cut the budget, end the warmongering and stop the banker bailouts. They are all getting money from Goldman Sachs and the criminals on Wall Street. So as disappointed as you are in me, it doesn't even come close to the disappointment I have for this corrupt system.

So what do you think? Should we bother voting in 2012?

I've heard people argue that we should vote for Ron Paul to prevent World War 3, but I think Maine proves that the GOP will make sure he never gets the nomination. If you think I'm wrong, tell me why?

  1. McCain is far from perfect but to call someone who spent 7 years in a prison camp who refused to leave his fellow men behind dispite several offers simply because of who his father and grandfather were a "low life" is disturbing to say the least. Some might even call him a Patriot. What would you do in that situation? 7 years in a prison camp...what would you do after 7 hours in a prison camp besides cry to go back home to mommy.

I would think a Libertarian would be standing proud for Paul. Sure you don't want to keep Obama in office because he is black?

    2. I think you hit this one right on the head! If Ron Paul is not in the general election for president..I most likely will not waste my time voting. There is no way I'm voting for Obama..or any of the other Obama's by another name with an "R" next to their name! They make promises and than break them and continue to grow government and debt! .....and push WAR WAR and more WAR!..And none of them are dealing with the FED!

    3. The truth is that John McCain showed his true colors when he co-signed the National Defense Authorization Act and TARP. And as far as Obama, he's the worst thing to happen to black people in decades.

  2. I understand your frustration with the system, DEMCAD. I think most Americans feel the same way about these politicians and it is every bit your right to not vote. I don't believe in a mass nationwide conspiracy to steal elections. The amount of people required to pull that off in just a single state would be enormous and nationwide unthinkable that just one squeaky wheel blow their operation and have it all crumble down and then they ALL would spend time in a prison or on a noose. So rather than telling everyone NOT to vote, which suits those running for office just fine since they know their cronies will be voting for them, a better platform would be for the nation to see the injustices and criminal behavior being perpetrated and focus on a single candidate, even for write-in nomination.

I guess all I am saying is that if everyone that decides to not vote, would actually expend just a minuscule amount of time and effort in to a single candidate deemed worthy to hold office, none of this would ever be an issue again. But instead we have both parties doing everything they can to keep a nation divided so that the same beast gets in office no matter the letter next to their name. And I think you will agree that is the beast we have been battling for quite some time now, the lesser of two evils.

  3. I agree with you 100%. The elections are a hoax, and have been a hoax for a long time now. This country is still great, but this time shall pass. If the people don't "wake up" we are doomed. The corporations have taken control of the powers that be, the common man is not even "common" anymore................it's time my friend. It is time..............

  4. Dont vote! that shit is not built for poor folk, just rich people. That shit was created by rich folk and slave owners. So why would it benefit the common man of today? The only decision we get to make is whether we want Crispy or Original Recipe, and sometimes we dont even get that. Fuck USA!

Demcad, you are right! Anyone who says otherwise is full of shit and is more part of the problem for advocating the problem of the common man's lives.

  5. Hey Reginald,,
I am African American and I voted for Obama, as a democrat. However, last week I visited the local election board office and registered as a republican so that I can vote for Ron Paul, in the April republican primary. I pay articular attention to world events, the forming of the NWO, the deceptions of Obama, the lies of the republican party, in reference to Ron Paul.

When I think of the coming revolution, I feel that we can win the revolution only through casting our vote, and ensuring that our vote is counted.

    Thanks for the prepping advice.

    God bless.

    Terry

  6. Reginald,
I have been following you for about a year now. I'm finally getting around to commenting on your blog! I feel the same way you do, and have since the early 90's. Having studied journalism at university I was taught the tools to see beyond the news, and to research thoroughly and come to my own decisions. I agree with you about how the current political environment has de-evolved, and has made voting pointless.
One of my favorite philosopher-comedians George Carlin pointed out, (I'm paraphrasing here) "voting is there as just an illusion to make us feel important and make us feel like we have a choice. The politicians are part of a bigger party and we're not invited!"
There is only one politician I would even consider voting for, Ron Paul. Not because he's a Republican, but because he actually is the only one telling the American people how badly we're being fu@ked by our own government and how it's going to eventually lead to our own downfall as a nation and society. I am a constitutional Libertarian, and Ron Paul is the only politician that shares my belief in returning us to a Constitutional governed Democratic Republic. However I'm very confident that he will not get the nomination as a Republican presidential candidate, and will not run as an independent. So I will not have anyone I feel comfortable voting for. Obama is just another career politician, like the rest…and has become so entrenched in the partisan politics he is either unable or unwilling to do anything we the people need him to do to return this country to it's former glory. Partisanship and modern politics has made it almost impossible for any of our leaders to do anything that will help the people. All of the politicians running for president, EXCEPT for Dr. Paul have become so corrupted by the partisan political environment that they are essentially, in my opinion, utterly worthless. I will continue with my own life and continue to prep, hopefully I will never need my preps, but if I do…I'll be ready.
It's great to see another person like you that has learned to think on their own without the mass media telling them what to think.
P.S. If you ever need to "Bug-out" to somewhere in the Rocky Mountains, feel free to contact me and drop by.
    Cheers,
    Bear

  7. I will be voting. I am not sure if it helps or not, but at least to show that I am still here.

I know that our country is run by big banks and mega corporations that control the media and brainwash the television generation into voting for whoever they say they should vote for because people refuse to think for themselves anymore. Really it is kind of sad that people let themselves get pushed around.

I'll tell you who I will NOT be voting for in any case because I refuse to vote for the lesser of two evils anymore. I will not vote for Obama, Santorum or Romney or anyone else who pops in with similar big government limited freedom views. voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil. it is like choosing between warm Coors or warm Budweiser. They are both beer and therefore taste nasty warm.

I will find somebody to vote for. If I can't vote Ron Paul, I will probably vote for an independent candidate or a Libertarian candidate. I will need to start my reading up on the candidates over again because I don't want anybody to tell me how to vote without understanding who I am voting for.

Imagine if all the Libertarians actually voted Libertarian!
